The regular summer schedule
The Town assigns residential watering groups by the last digit of the street address: 0–3 (square), 4–6 (circle), and 7–9 (diamond). The normal plan uses an every-third-day rotation, not the same weekdays every week.
The standard seasonal schedule is May 1 through September 30. Watering during the day is generally prohibited; permissible times are before 8 a.m. and after 8 p.m. Your annual schedule and any special address rules should be checked on Castle Rock Water’s official resources.
What changes during a drought?
Drought-stage rules can override the normal schedule. In September 2026 the Town returned to Stage 1, asked customers to voluntarily reduce water use by 10%, and encouraged continuing the two-day-per-week schedule through the end of irrigation season. Do not assume that guidance applies to a future summer.
A useful routine: check the Town’s drought status before setting your controller in spring, whenever restrictions are announced, and when returning from vacation.
Set your controller without surprises
Find your street-address group and current permitted days. Program early-morning starts where practical, spread run time into multiple shorter cycles if runoff develops, and inspect spray heads for overspray onto pavement.
Smart controllers can adjust runtimes based on weather. During drought restrictions, double-check that automatic adjustments cannot start a cycle on a prohibited day.
